November 2014 Newsletter

RJ WebBuilder 2.0 Newsletter

Dear Webmasters:

Immediate Action Necessary! As reported in the past few newsletters, the component GCalendar will no longer work come November 17. We will now be using DPCalendar. With the deadline in sight the new component has been added to all live sites. If you are not successfully using DPCalendar, please follow these steps to get your Google calendars imported into the new component and up on your site. No action is necessary if you are already using DPCalendar, Jevents or a different source. If your site is still in development and you intend on using a Google calendar on your site, let me know, and I will upload the new software.

Please help me congratulate those congregations who have gone live recently.

Sinai Temple, Champaign, IL
Temple Emanuel, Andover, MA
Congregation Sukkat Shalom, Juneau, AK
Temple Sinai Congregation of Toronto, Toronto, ON
Congregation Berith Sholom, Troy, NY

Kol Hakavod to the new sites!

Did You Know?

The URJ Has Many Resources for Hanukkah
The Hanukkah information and resources on ReformJudaism.org will help your members find engaging ways to learn about and celebrate this Festival of Lights. As always, you are welcome to link to these resources from your website or social media or place them on your website with a link and attribution to ReformJudaism.org.

As you may know, many of our communications assets (print-ready ads, web banners, etc.) for congregations have moved to the new Reform Movement collaboration platform, The Tent, where you can find resources, seek information, and share advice with peers from Reform congregations across North America. There you can find print ads and web/social media/email banners for your Hanukkah mailings and communications.

Also, if you want to send a beautiful Hanukkah ecard to congregants (username: ecard, password: urj), please feel free to use one of our HTML cards and customize it with your congregation name and logo and a cooking video, recipe or blessing.

Biennial 2015 Is One Year Away
The countdown is on! Just one year from now, thousands of synagogue lay leaders, clergy, professionals, educators and congregants will gather for the 73rd General Assembly of the Union for Reform Judaism. This time, we're headed to sunny Orlando, Florida. Start promoting Biennial on your sites. We're working on lining up the very best speakers, teachers and performers. Please take a few minutes and tell us who you'd like to see at the Biennial by sharing your ideas in The Tent.

You Can Help Promote Your Region's URJ Summer Camp
Registration is now open at all URJ summer camps. Help spread the word by posting information on your congregation's website. Create a module, add a picture and link to your region's camp or their social media (list of links here).

Staying in Touch

We are challenged in reaching current webmasters due to high turnover and changes in email addresses. If you are receiving this email, you are the person who was reported to the URJ to be handling your congregation's website. If there are additional people who need to be on this list or if you need to get off this list, please send corrected information to datamgmt@urj.org.
