January 2016 Newsletter

Dear Webmasters:

Happy New Year!

We are rapidly working on the development of the two new custom components discussed in last month's newsletter: the one for article sharing and the one for donations and RSVPs. We are hoping to have the article sharing extension ready in the next few weeks.

For those of you who took the time to share your opinion on the current form builder software and what you would like to see in the new extension, we thank you. This information will be valuable in the development of this new extension. I will update you as this software becomes available.

Just a reminder, please do not make any software updates on your site. This is critical as these updates can potentially break the site. For new versions of Joomla, we put together our own update package and test it. For new versions of components and extensions, we need to see if the updates are necessary and then test them. While updates are easier for us to do now with our new system in place, it's still pertinent for us to test them out before any updates are made.

Please help me congratulate those congregations who have gone live recently.

Quick Tips

New URL for Jewish World News Feed
If you are currently using a Jewish World News RSS Scroller module with the URJ's news feed, you may notice that the module has old news. If so, you will need to update the feed being used within that module. Go to the module manager, edit that module and under RSS sources, remove the current URL and add http://www.urj.org/taxonomy/term/21311/feed

Staying in Touch

We are challenged in reaching current webmasters due to high turnover and changes in email addresses. If you are receiving this email, you are the person who was reported to the URJ to be handling your congregation's website. If there are additional people who need to be on this list or if you need to get off this list, please send corrected information to datamgmt@urj.org
