April 2016 Newsletter

Dear Webmasters:

The Passover season is upon us. If you are looking for content for your sites, email or social media, please feel free to use the many resources on ReformJudaism.org, including:

As you gear up for a busy spring, I am happy to report that the intermittent issues that were impacting some sites have been resolved. There were some security issues that we discovered and repaired but it is a reminder that there are important steps to take to secure your sites:

  1. Please delete any unfamiliar user accounts. Limiting user access can help protect your sites.
  2. Change all administrator passwords on a regular basis as well as using upper and lowercase letters, numbers and special characters. (We will take care of the URJ admins, please don't change those.)

Some of you may have noticed a Joomla! update email regarding an update to Joomla! We recently updated all sites to 3.5, and this version has new features for updating and sending out messages. We are aware this update is available but first have to test it out and create our own install package. If you do get these emails, please ignore them.

Please help me congratulate those congregations who have gone live recently.

Quick Tips

How to Use the Text Separator Menu Item
If you have a menu item you do not want clickable, use the text separator menu item type. This is used to separate a parent item from any link.

How to Embed MP3 Files
Want to include a prayer, song or other audio file into an article or module, it's really easy to embed it.

Staying in Touch

We are challenged in reaching current webmasters due to high turnover and changes in email addresses. If you are receiving this email, you are the person who was reported to the URJ to be handling your congregation's website. If there are additional people who need to be on this list or if you need to get off this list, please send corrected information to datamgmt@urj.org.
