August 2024 Newsletter

Dear Webmasters:

A recent update to Themify has changed the way you can set up an accordion module. The module now allows you to drop any other module type (eg. text, slider or social media feed) inside the accordion panels. With the ability to drop any module, apply styling, and select grids, you can design accordions for any layout.

Your website's homepage is arguably the most important page you'll create. It's where most visitors will enter your site and decide whether they will explore further. A well-designed homepage establishes your synagogue's voice and mission, welcomes new users, and guides them to take further action. Here are five tips for designing your homepage.

People often scan web pages rather than read them carefully. They look for content that is interesting, act on it, and move on. Follow these best practices for making your content scannable.

It's hard to believe summer is almost over and the High Holidays will be here soon. Rosh HaShanah starts on October 2.

ReformJudaism.org has many articles, recipes, and blogs to help you plan your High Holiday programming. You can include links to this content on your website or social media account and repost it online or in print with a link and attribution.

Make sure your profile shows whether you offer services for non-members so we can include your congregation in promotions. To update your profile, visit the Reform Movement Marketplace. This will also help your members; if they are traveling, they can request seating at a nearby congregation with the High Holiday seating reciprocity form.

The URJ offers ecards to send to congregants. There are different cards to choose from, and they can be customized with a blessing, video, or recipe.

The URJ and Secure Community Network (SCN) have partnered to create a suite of safety and security resources ahead of the High Holidays, which includes on-demand resources, one-on-one support, access to best practices, and consultations with leading security experts. Learn more.

Don't forget to use the communications and RJ Web Builder groups in the Tent to share resources, ask questions and connect with other webmasters.

Help me congratulate the congregations whose sites have recently gone live via RJ Web Builder 3.0 (a full list is on the help site):
