RJ Web 3.0 Questions

Can anyone point me to a good resource to start learning WordPress? I'm also wondering if there might be specific resources for Joomla! users. I see tons of articles on how to accomplish a Joomla!-to-WordPress migration, but I'm more interested in learning about the important differences between the two platforms. Right now, I'm looking at the official Learn Wordpress page (https://learn.wordpress.com/), and that looks at least like a good start.

Thanks, Laurence! That looks like a good place to start. I'm trying not to cry over the time I've invested in learning the various ins and outs of Joomla! I'm hoping that the transition process will not be too painful.

Thanks Joel! The tutorials on the WordPress, WPBeginner, and OSTraining sites represent a good start.

I am taking the Lynda.com 'WordPress Essentials Training' course, and it seems pretty good. Lynda.com charges a monthly fee to access their courses, but the first month is free. So, you could take this course and then cancel your subscription.

In my town, our public library offers membership to Lynda courses and I am regularly taking classes that I have been interested in, all for free!

It may be worth it checking with your library if they offer the same kind of partnership!

1. Just to be clear, because I am a WordPress novice, the color schemes for each of the RJ-Web Builder 3.0 themes can be changed, and the order and appearance of the various headers can be changed too, right?

2. On our Joomla! site, we really like having a large auto-running slideshow near the top of the page, and it wasn’t clear to me if any or all of the themes shown have the ability to run a slideshow in the top-most Header. Is that an option?

3. I like having an accordion-style Upcoming Events module. Is there a similar widget that can be added to WordPress front pages

-----------------------------

I think that a lot of my questions have been answered by viewing the Themify Builder documentation (https://urjtechhelp.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/115001997033-Themify-Builder). It looks like it ought to be pretty easy to insert accordion and slideshow widgets, and change various parts of the appearance of a particular theme.

Joel, this is a question for you, please.

Can you confirm that the background and text colors can all be modified

Our team is looking at the offered themes and is gearing towards a choice, but needs to have the reassurance that we will be able to match the colors and the graphic chart that our "branding" committee created for our current website.

I have not yet been able to go deeply into the Themify builder to understand if this is how we would be able to personalize our theme/template.

Thanks in advance!

Laurence,

We are working on some tutorials to further explain what can and can't be customized. I will let you know when they are ready. I believe the answer to both is yes, but I'll know for sure when those are done. Thanks.

Thanks for adding the Theme feature maps! That makes things quite a bit clearer for me.
